The Beijing Marathon is a World Athletics Gold Label Road Race organised by the Chinese Athletics Association and the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Sports and co-organised by China Media Group. Founded in 1981, the Beijing Marathon boasts over four decades of history and is China¡¯s first marathon event. It began with 86 participants and has, over time, become an ultimate honour for runners from home and abroad and an iconic event of China¡¯s marathon and road races. Today, Beijing Marathon is a representative event of Beijing and China that dazzles with cultural and historical significance.
Looking back, the firing of the starting pistol at the first Beijing Marathon in 1981 heralded not only the era of the Beijing Marathon but also China¡¯s urban marathons. During its long history of development, the Beijing Marathon has welcomed countless outstanding runners from home and abroad, who vigorously exerted themselves and achieved astonishing records. Thanks to them, the standard and international influence of the event have continued to rise. Over the years, the event has settled on a classic route that begins at Tiananmen Square and ends in the Landscape Avenue in the Olympic Common Domain, which allows runners from around the world to appreciate the unique appeal of a historical and cultural capital and the world¡¯s inaugural dual Olympic City.
In 2025, the Beijing Marathon stands at a new historic starting point and shoulders a greater mission of the age. As a key representative of China¡¯s image, national pride and sports achievements, the Beijing Marathon is committed to becoming an iconic event that is comparable to a national ritual known for its international influence and cultural significance. On November 2, 2025, 32,000 runners from around the globe will set off from Tian¡¯anmen Square. ¡ñ REGISTRATION PERIOD: The registration opens at 10:00 on 10 September 2025 and closes at 18:00 on 15 September 2025(Beijing Time).
¡ñ DRAW RESULT ANNOUNCEMENT: Early October 2025.
¡ñ RACE DATE: 2 November 2025, Sunday
¡ñ START TIME: 07:30 a.m.
¡ñ START: Tian¡¯anmen Square East Side Road.
¡ñ FINISH: Beijing Olympic Park Landscape Avenue.
¡ñ PLACE TO PASS THROUGH: The course goes through Dongcheng District, Xicheng District, Haidian District, and Chaoyang District.
¡ñ ENTRY FEE: 200 RMB/person.
¡ñ ELIGIBILITY FOR REGISTRATION:
¡ñ Age requirements: 1.All the athletes must be at least 20 years old (born on or before December 31, 2005). Any athlete aged 65 or above (born on or before December 31, 1960) shall enhance self-assessment of health and submit a Participation Commitment Letter signed by both himself/herself and his/her family member (including spouse, parents, adult children, or other adult relatives living together). ¡ñ Result requirements: Marathon result within 6 hours or Half Marathon result within 3 hours from and including January 1 2023 to and including September 9 2025.
